About Brad

I am a part time artist based in Ripon, North Yorkshire. Oil is my preferred medium, where I love recreating my favourite landscapes in an impressionistic style, with fast and loose brush marks. I enjoy the vibrancy and rich tones that oils provide. Having never had any lessons in art I am always learning something new with each painting.

I have always done art since I was at school where a would draw and paint. I then joined Ripon arts society in secondary school where I attended art lectures once a month with my uncle Brian, which further interested me and was somewhere I could learn more about other artists. In school holidays I painted with the Littlethorpe art group along with my uncle Brian, where I could paint what I liked while drawing on inspiration from others at work and all the different mediums people would use. I think this may be where I get my fast style from; due to having to finish a painting within three hours at Littlethorpe.

From finishing secondary school I ended up studying horticulture and then becoming a gardener which is my other passion, however I developed arthritis which stopped me from working for sometime. In this time I then started developing my art again with the time I had off and learnt a lot more. With lots of plans for the future with exhibitions and plein air trips. I am very excited for the future ahead.
